Country music legend Johnny Cash, known as the “man in black” for his black attire, had a hit with his rendition of Ghost Riders in the Sky.  Echoes of Ghost Riders in the Sky have lived on as western-sounding influences in songs such as Wanted, Dead or Alive by rock group Bon Jovi, Deadwood by the Nashville group Big & Rich, and Outlaw written and performed by Ben.

As a side note, Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee, spawned artists such as Elvis, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash at the dawn of rock ‘n roll during the mid-1950s. This confluence of country, gospel, rhythm & blues (R&B), and rock lives on today in Nashville recording studios.
