Cheryl Peach Records Southern Gospel Standards

Cheryl Peach has begun recording southern gospel standards for a CD to be released in 2008. Of course, "He Touched Me" by Bill Gaither is first on the list of gospel classics. Early influences on Cheryl of Mahalia Jackson and Elvis are clear on "Peace in the Valley". A little banjo pickin' and steel pedal guitar are displayed in bluegrass gospel versions of "Shall We Gather at the River", and "Victory in Jesus"...(a little known secret that Cheryl lived in West Virginia until she was 6 years old.) And who can forget Cristy Lane's TV commercials for "One Day at a Time" by Kris Kristofferson. Or the power of Vestal Goodman bringing home "Rock of Ages". Let us pray that we can do justice to the memory of the Goodmans.
